Spahn asks for patience when distributing the vaccine
The document signed in the town of Psarades near the border provides that Macedonia will in future use the official name "Republic of North Macedonia" wearing. It still has to be approved by the parliaments of both countries and in a referendum in Macedonia.
At the same time, several people were injured in violent demonstrations in the Macedonian capital, Skopje. According to initial media reports, seven police officers and at least three demonstrators had to be hospitalized for treatment. At least eleven demonstrators were arrested. The police used tear gas and stun grenades to break up the violent protests outside the parliament building. The demonstrators had previously broken through the barriers and thrown stones and firecrackers at the security forces. Tsipras: "brave, historical and necessary step"
After the signing of the document by the Greek Foreign Minister Nikos Kotzias and his Macedonian colleague Nikola Dimitrov, the Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras spoke of one "courageous, historical and necessary step for our peoples". The agreement "opens a way for peace, brotherhood and growth for our countries, the Balkans and Europe".
